Older wakesurf boats

I am searching to buy my first boat and I was wondering what is a good older boat for wake surfing? Are bigger hulls better. For example is a supra sunsport a good choice, or even a correct craft martinique? I was also looking at century resorters, they have a deep v hull  and it seems like that is ideal for wakesurfing. Does anyone have any pictures of these wakes or have any insight on this isssue? Thanks

Pretty much any modern inboard (after around 1990 or a little before I'd guess) can be weighted to put up a pretty nice surf wake.  My neighbor has his old closed bow Mastercraft ski boat weighted down with about 1500 pounds all in the back-port corner and it puts up a sick wake.

I was looking at the late 80's and early 90's boats, but got to looking and it seemed like all of those boats have such a flat bottom. I was looking on ebay and found a 1972 century resorter and it had a deep v hull and i thought it looked ideal for wakesurfing. So I am kinda of lost now on what to be looking at.

What is your price range?  If your main concern is with price, buying an old boat like that may end up being a nightmare in repairs, etc.

I'd recommend picking up a newer used boat (that is just old enough to have most of the depreciation squeezed out of it) that will suit your needs better and then selling it in a few years.

That way you avoid both the insane cost of a new wake-boat and hopefully the trouble that old boats can bring.
